Dealing with noise
A trend in automotive glass design is to increase the size of the glass area. This allows more sunlight into the vehicle and provides a more natural environment for passengers. On the other hand, the use of single-pane or ordinary laminated glass in automotive glass can result in the transmission of more noise, such as road noise and wind noise, inside the vehicle. There is a need to reduce noise while maintaining the luxurious interior environment intended by designers.
Improved cabin environment through sound insulation
Automotive laminated glass with S-LEC™ Sound Acoustic Film significantly reduces the transmission of traffic noise, wind noise, and other such noises entering from outside the vehicle. With the spread of EVs and the widespread adoption of panoramic roofs, the need for quietness has increased, and the need for sound insulating glass has grown over the years.
For EVs, S-LEC™ Sound Acoustic Film improves the sound insulation properties of all laminated glass types, including windshields, side door glass, and panorama roofs, resulting in quieter vehicles.
Wind tunnel testing on an actual vehicle has shown that panoramic roofs with Acoustic Film improve sound pressure by up to 3 dB, equivalent to a 3.7% improvement in the speech intelligibility index (AI value), compared to conventional laminated glass. In addition, a significant improvement in quietness was confirmed not only in the front seats but also in the rear seats. Please contact us for details of the test results.

Features
In humans, most audible sounds range from 1,000 to 4,000Hz. The Sound Acoustic Film improves the sound insulation effect by 5dB compared with standard interlayer films.S-LEC™️ Sound Acoustic Film sound insulation interlayer film is achieved by the three-layer extrusion tech nolog y t hat pr oduces a f il m consisting of a sound insulation layer (core layer) and two layers of standard interlayer film (external layers) that sandwich the core layer. With this technology, the sound insulation performance of the film is improved while it also maintains the basic performance of standard interlayer films.
