Softlon FR-ND, Polyethylene electron beam cross-linked foam
-Challenge- Battery temperature stabilization
The life span and performance of batteries in electric vehicles (EVs) are greatly affected by temperature.
At low temperatures, the internal resistance of the battery cells increases, which affects the performance and life span of the batteries and may result in failure to fully charge the battery.
At high temperatures, the heat may affect the power density, reduce acceleration performance, or cause thermal runaway, which can damage the battery.
In order to achieve the battery’s intended performance and life span, the temperature inside the battery pack must be maintained at an appropriate level.
-Solution- Flame retardant foam with excellent heat insulation performance
The Softlon electron-beam cross-linked polyolefin foam has low-thermal conductivity and has excellent insulation and heat retention properties.
Its flexibility acts as a buffer material and protects the battery cell from impact.
Softlon FR-ND is also fire retardant, enhancing safety inside the battery pack.
