Shock absorption
The inherent flexibility of resin and the cell structure of foam achieve high shock absorption with minimum thickness.
Shock absorption
Shock energy is generated when an object moves and physically contact with another object. The shock can be absorbed by converting it into heat energy.
Thin, but excellent shock absorbing material
The shock-absorbing capacity increases in proportion to the volume (such as thickness) of the receiver to which an external force is applied. However, many industrial products have only limited space available, despite needs for shock absorption there. With its proprietary foam structure and resin composition, Sekisui foam exhibits higher shock absorption than other resin films and fiber materials.
Sealing of uneven surfaces
With its flexibility, the foam seals uneven or sharp surfaces to achieve high sealing property.
A material with high sealing property
The sealing property of a sealer such as tape is greatly affected, not only by the properties of the material substance, but also by its close physical contact with the uneven surface of the adherend. A material with high flexibility eliminates gaps with the adherend and realizes high sealing performance.
Sealing property realized by foam
Resin films and fiber materials such as non-woven fabrics may leave small gaps because of their own rigidity (hardness). Sekisui foam is thin, but has excellent flexibility to seal uneven surfaces. It is used for various applications, including sealing (waterproof or dustproof) tape in electronic devices.
