FACES
1. Tell me about your background and career thus far and your current job.
In university I majored in organic synthetic chemistry. I did research in the synthesis of low molecular weight compounds. Since joining the company, I am involved in the development of electronic materials. I mainly create components that play a vital role in electronic parts. Since I was a child, I have like making things (monozukuri). I was hooked on making dragons from drawing paper, and making things from legos by combing parts with various characteristics, and disregarding the instructions. Making things was always deeply rooted in my emotions. I majored in organic synthetic chemistry as I wanted to look at the details of the smallest unit of things. Also, given things are made of low molecular weight compounds, I carried out my research believe that the scope of monozukuri was expanded by research related to this low molecular weight. My current job differs from organic synthesis. Also I am glad to be able to continue monozukuri using new approaches. I aim to continue to make things that will not only give me satisfaction but also satisfy people around the world.
2. What technological innovation do you feel is the most amazing thus far?
Recently I found out that I can read card data, including data from my My Number Card, using my smartphone. I was surprised when I realized my smartphone had a function to deposit money into an electronic payment card. Thus far, it was common sense to go to city hall or go to where a special machine was installed. However, ever since I found out about these functions, I felt that my life thus far was inconvenient. This was a shocking event that overturned what I had previously believed to be “common sense.” In this manner, I aim to produce producxts that will upend my own common sense as well as the world’ common sense.
3. Discuss the challenges you are undertaking to achieve innovation.
I have an interest in various things. I bring ideas from a new viewpoint due to the fact that there is absolutely no connection with the themes I am involved in. In addition, on a regular basis, I frequently think about what would be convenience to have. For instance, I like driving so I felt it would be a good idea if the screen on my car navigation system where reflected in the car window when I am driving. When I think seriously, my shoulders tense up and I am unable to flexibly come up ideas. I idly come up with ideas during my normal lifestyle, when engaged in hobbies, and during casual moments.
4. What is your on off switch?
My hobbies are going for drives, mountain climbing, camping and travel. I like to be one with nature. In light of this, I am most relaxed when I am surrounded by nature. By relaxing in a place that is far from modern conveniences, I think I become inspired to realize the opposite, which is to make things that add convenience to our lifestyles
